Material notes

Quartz or quartzite? Start with how you live.

A practical starting point for comparing engineered quartz and natural quartzite.

Despite the similar names, engineered quartz and natural quartzite are different materials. Engineered quartz is a manufactured surface; quartzite is a natural stone with slab-to-slab variation.

Compare more than color

Think about the room, daily use, care expectations, and the specific product. Compare full slabs or current samples under the lighting in your space. Follow the manufacturer or fabricator’s recommendations for heat protection, cleaning, and sealing.

Considering an outdoor kitchen?

Do not assume an indoor product is suitable outside. Confirm that the selected material and installation system are appropriate for sun, moisture, and exposure.

Considering backlighting?

Neither name alone establishes suitability. The actual slab or product must be tested for light transmission and compatibility with the planned installation.

Make a useful shortlist

Explore the named examples in our engineered quartz and quartzite libraries. Save the options you like, then share photographs of the room and the surfaces you intend to keep. Cabinet color, natural light, and under-cabinet LED lighting can all change how a sample reads in the space.

These notes are a starting point. Final product suitability and project requirements are reviewed for your specific space.
